Buzzy Talk

I am feeling rather fatigued as of late with the overuse of business jargon and buzzwords in regular business interactions. I know they convey authority and currency with business trends. Still, listening to jargon heavy conversations sometimes sounds like a lot of gobbledygook. I'm a bottom-line-it kind of girl; I like concrete detail and facts and clear roadmaps so abstract dialogues (albeit with good intent) leave me impatient. I hear some interesting compilations of current jargon-- I recently heard the curious expression, “I will add it to my account penetration dialogue” in reference to asking questions to a client to get to the source of their marketing needs. I thought it was so clinical that I had to write it down. Is he finding the client's pain point or is he offering sexual services as merchandising? I was perplexed. Sorta.

Just when I needed it most, Hollaback sent me a link to a blog which highlighted the most overused buzzwords in the current business vernacular with the suggestion they be outlawed. Hollaback wryly added, "If this list were enforced, some people would be speechless."

What's your favorite overused buzzword?

If I hear one more person use the phrase "at the end of the day", I will smack them.
