Only The Good Die Young

I was horrified to hear today that Tim Russert passed away today at the youthful age of 58. He was my Mister Sunday morning--in my view, the best host ever of "Meet the Press." His unbridled enthusiasm for politics was evident; his delighted glee in the roller coaster of the Democratic primary race was fantastic and I mourn that he will not be with us on election night in November. He alone made that horror that was the Bush/Gore election debacle in 2000 fun to watch. What a true loss to journalism and to his many steadfast admirers like me.

Here at my house, we feel like we know him, though of course, we don't. He's a Buffalo guy, just like my husband. His death was such a shock! I can't help but think about his Dad today.

(Yes, I noticed I talked about him in the present tense. I think I'll leave it.)

Aw man. We *just* saw Tim Russert at Radio City Music Hall 2 weeks ago. (We got tickets to a series of political speakers, and Tim was moderating one of the debates.) His warmth & presence filled the entire room. He will be missed.
