TOOOO-Pelo

I met up with Bluesgirl, my traveling companion for this journey, at LaGuardia Airport this morning. Bluesy is a vivacious and funny blond with clear blue eyes. We hit it off immediately. After an uneventful flight, we rented a shiny red Ford Mustang convertible. After tooling around Memphis (which included an obligatory visit to Beale Street, one of the birthplaces of the blues), we hit the open road. Truckers are awfully friendly here. They waved at us, as did several other friendly fellow travelers, as we sped down Highway 78 toward Mississippi.

Tupelo doesn't seem to have a lot to offer at first glance. Bluesy and I are the first one here and the rest of our crew are making their way here from points East, West and North. We hope everyone will be here when the blues start up in full swing tomorrow. And the Elvis impersonators contest. Can't miss that.

We hear there's a music club down on Main Street so we'll have a wander down there, have a drink and sit a spell. Maybe even dance. Bluesy seems to want to shimmy while standing on the bar, but this doesn't seem like that kind of city. And just down the block in the other direction--the bright block yellow letters of a Waffle House. Life is good.

Two hot blondes in a red convertible. Why would anyone honk? Why?

I had a good meltdown this afternoon due to the fact that I don't get to eat at the House of Waffle with you. Serious. I so wanted to go.

Keep us posted, especially if there are any sightings of the great beer-bellied one! (And I don't mean Elvis!)

Hey Girl!! Are you home yet? I had a great time with all of you and it was fantastic to meet you. You're a doll! Do they have mini corndogs in New York too or are you going to have to go to Tupelo for cravings from now on? CW, you single handedly changed my view of New Yorkers! I used to think they were all rude (bad personal experience, lol) maybe they should consider you for some tourism spots! Another road trip under the belt, next? I hope you're home and safe.
