The Gang's All Here

Five years ago on my second return to New York, I started working closely with a team who became fond family members and affectionate fodder for my blog. Business changes and restructuring within the business divided me from some of these people; Ongoing business changes and restructuring have reunited me with these people. Five years ago I managed this team--five years later, I am managing them again. And happily.

We are known quantities to one another. I don't have to perform the subtle dance of insinuating myself nor directing hard calls under the guise of business change blame. I can talk turkey with these folks and I know they can step up. It's been a busy but happy migration.

After a business debrief recently, we re-enacted an old habit--we went out for a suite of margaritas, a big dish of guacamole, copious laughter and some renewed optimism for the future.

So for the record, cited above are the infamous Mamela, The Glamazon, Red and Jewels. Knowing them has made me so much richer.

I'm already brushing up on my Yiddish.
