Thunder is crashing above. Rain is coming down in sheets. The wind is whipping tree branches with ruthless vindication. It seems an outright storm. I decided to put on the weather channel. The announcer predicted a tornado warning in Flushing, Queens. Flooding in coastal Nassau counties and coastal Connecticut. Gee, a real storm.
I like the violence of this kind of weather. Growing up in California, we never had the breadth of violence in our summer storms. We never had humidity so we never had thunder and lightening shows. I appreciate them now.
So pray excuse me. I'm going to go watch the show.

I, too, was in Riverside Park today, but fortunately while the weather was still very nice. However, I was caught in the deluge while racing to the neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Not only did I sacrifice better cuisine a block away for a few minutes less in the driving rain, but my umbrella was stolen. Who needs that?! Back on topic...it's nice to live between the two parks, each offering such different environments.
Someone who finally gets it about the weather. I always get giddy when the weather does something here and people just look at me like I'm nuts. I hate to say it, but sometimes I even miss earthquakes. Well maybe not the big ones, but I could go for an aftershock. Just something to keep it lively around here.
