It Just Figures

Today was the last day of filming and I had to leave the apartment early to drive to Baltimore on business. As I wove my way between the lights and equipment and crew members clogging the hallways and the lobby, I knew that when I returned back to my humble abode on Wednesday night, this would all be but a memory. My earlier notions about the glamour of this whole episode seemed rather contrived in contrast to the reality.

When I arrived at the hotel in Baltimore this evening, I called Fang. "You'll never believe what happened!" he exclaimed. As he rode up in the elevator tonight after work, the door opened on our floor and standing opposite him waiting to enter the elevator was Angelina Jolie. "So?" I pressed, "what happened?" Fang is not dazzled by celebrity like perhaps other folk so he said to her in her usual lackadaisical way, "Hey, how ya doing?" She was gracious and replied, "Good. How are you?" He was hard pressed to give me any other relevant details, like appearance, clothing, confirmation of tats. Men are sometimes useless that way.

Oh, snap. How is it that this filming has been going on here for a month and in all that time, I have seen no one of note? Even our neighbor Bill rode up in the elevator with Angelina and they had a laugh when Bill's gregarious dog poked his nose in her crotch.

That sighting was wasted on Fang, but it should give him plenty of bank at work tomorrow.

Where did this happen at? The Waldorf-Astoria?

Awwww, man! No fair. We know that if you had seen Ms. Jolie you would have given us the complete rundown and it would have been fabulous. I mean your prose, Angelina could have been non-fabulous for all we know from Fang...

Oh, so right, Jen. As I said, lost on Fang.

And Quiet, I wish this happened at the Waldorf. It happened at my apartment building in Washington Heights. Hardly a glamorous melieu.
