Oh, yeah. It snowed again today. The official groundhog (as soothsayer) yesterday predicted another six weeks of winter, the evil rodent. We will persevere and we will do so begrudgingly. There is still more snow ahead to manage. On my ride home tonight, I weathered 45 mph traffic and SUVs skidding into my drive lane. I saw 18 wheelers fishtailing as they navigated turns. I observed gypsy cabs in the City that nearly broadsided me. I had a treacherous two hour ride home in this mire but I can say this: I made it home in one piece and I suppose that is what mattered.
After I left Angus at the garage and made my long walk home, I suddenly became aware of the cool and collected beauty of the world around me. It was white and peaceful and pristine. Pine trees were clustered with wide swaths of white powder. Branches of vacant trees were edged in copious white trim. The ground was fluffy with layers of snow. It was delightful and untouched. I had a momentarily revel in this virgin territory. I frolicked in it. I rolled in it. I was a child again in this fresh terrain.
Free from the urban residue of dog-pee and car exhaust, the ground covering begged exaltation of expression. I made a snow angel. I romped with a spaniel. I kicked up my heels like a child. It was delightful. I felt a freedom unknown for such a long time.
I won't mourn the departure of winter in six or seven weeks time. I wish it well with joy.

I got your message just last night before bed, about the terrible cold there, and you said how it must be worse here. Oh no! Not as near as bad as that! We've had a strange winter, but I couldn't tell you a time we haven't had a strange winter... It's -4 one day and a warm 54 the next, I kid you not.
So yeah, its cold here... sometimes. But never long enough to keep our snow on the ground for more than a day or two. So it turns into brown crappy mush. Ick. lol, so yeah I guess it is worse here. :)
