After the drama of the past 24 hours, today was off to a better start. At 10:30 pm last night, I re-established my VPN connection and was able to continue working. I was up at 8 am and dove right into work in the comfort of my living room. The Man in Plaid was already online and between the two of us, we input all the data into the budget program, making sure we weren't replicating entries and overwriting previous work. It's a delicate dance and we have this gig down cold.
At 3:00 pm, I was still in my pajamas but tasks and a social event loomed. Tendering my apologies to The Man in Plaid, I had to log off. I had spent most of the weekend working and now with most of the numbers input into the budget software (and the roll up looking in line), I felt confident that I could take a few hours off. I needed it.
I showered and dressed. I caught the subway downtown. I had my hair blown out. I walked from 86th Street to 73rd Street. I bought a few bargain priced cashmere sweaters at Filene's Basement. And then I realized that I was running late for meeting my homies for dinner. I caught a taxi.
I walked into Rosa Mexicana at 62nd and Columbus. Cristo was there. Hollaback was there. And her lovely distraction Claudia was there. We were still waiting on Jewels.
This dinner was an opportunity to meet Claudia. I didn't envy this poor woman having to undergo scrutiny from the posse. But from the moment I met her, I could see she could roll. She was funny and affable and charming, I liked her immediately.
I know my dear Hollaback adores her but that didn't influence my opinion. Claudia is delightful, very attractive and an interesting person. She talked about her experience in the Peace Corps. She discussed her job (which was fascinating). For a young woman, she's already had a full life.
I am happy for Hollaback, She and Claudia seem so harmonious. I like watching people in the initial throes of pristine romance. It's sweet and genuine. Claudia and Hollaback are good for one another. I can see that. For a long work weekend, it ended on a most worthy night out.
And might I add that I got to ingest three pomegranate margaritas tonight? I know I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow so let's condsider this appropriate reinforcement.
