Today I am preparing for my budget review meeting next week. At the same time, I had to examine where my business was at now for one of my markets. Overnight it seems to have gone into a scary free fall. The manager of this business was afraid to tell me her reforecast and when she finally did, at the end of the day, I nearly fell into a dead faint. I couldn't scream at her--it is was it is--but at the same time, in my professional capacity, I don't look like I'm managing my business with any thoughtful clarity. That disturbs me and makes me, well, cranky. I may have to apologize to her tomorrow for freaking out. *sigh*
In the midst of this challenging week, I had a brief shining light. Jewels was working in the Connecticut office today. He always lightens the mood and today he did not disappoint. I am usually a salad-at-my-desk-while-catching-up-on-email-kind-of-girl but today I just had to get out of the office at lunchtime for a breath of air. With the added incentive of Jewels close at hand, I asked him if he was willing to go out for a bite. I had a hankering to go to a 61 year old Norwalk landmark, a shack called Swanky Frank's. Are you up for it, my friend? I inquired. Well, he replied, I do love a good wiener.
We managed to entice The Man in Plaid to join us and we were soon off for a fine fried feast at Swanky Frank's. For a few shekels, we secured a table full of orange foodstuffs. The red hots were sublime; the onion rings were crisp and relatively non-greasy; the sauerkraut was fresh; the local root beer was frothy and cold. A most enjoyable splurge.
We were soon knee deep back in the morass. I was glad for the all too brief reprieve.

Yum, my mouth is still watering. I sure would love to have a big ol' fat hot dog right now. The onion rings however, I must pass on, I love 'em, but they will kill me....I've learned my lesson well.
Darling, these onion rings were well worth the gastric distress. They were delish.
