Ombre
n. A French term meaning "shaded." Usually a multicolored stripe, with colors graduating from light to dark. The color effect is woven into the fabric. Generally produced by arranging different tones in the warp.
One of the hottest fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2008 is ombre, a means of dyeing fabric that results in graduated or blended color. This trend is being shown everywhere from high fashion to accessories and footwear. Even the Express stores are featuring ombre T-shirts in beautiful graduated pinks, blues and greens. It's everywhere.
Here's how Coach interprets the trend in their signature weekend tote.
For the higher end, here's Prada's take on this season's ombre patent leather clutch. Ombre captured in a simple dress is gorgeous. I have to believe anyone would look radiant, fresh and feminine in the right hue (such as in this sweet number from BCBG).

I've actually long been a fan of ombre and I have to credit Gwen Stefani for the introduction. Her pink ombre wedding dress, created at the hands of John Galliano for Dior, was breathtaking. Every girl should get to wear such a concoction once in their lives.
Is ombre on your list for the Summer?

Actually, and I hate to be so damn pedantic, the word "ombre" means shadow. Sawry.

I love that orange turns pink gown! That is gorgeous!!!!!
You are correct, Jules. Thank you for the clarification. I took some poetic liberties, as is my wont.

Well my "ombre" at the moment is gigantic. So I am working to get it blended down fron big fat ass to somewhat decent to be in public wearing summer attire. It would be nice to wear something besides black.
Karen makes me laugh. And CW...again...I apologize. I am a pain in the ass.
