This was a rather bountiful haul for the holidays. As family, we don't really exchange gifts. However, amongst work colleagues, there is a bounty of generosity expressed. When I was last at work, my desk was piled with holiday gestures much often conveyed in copious boxes of Godiva chocolate (and what a shame I don't really care for chocolate) and bottles of spirits. The Queen Bea gave me a bottle of Bahamian rum accompanied by her famous egg nog recipe. There were bottles of champagne and lovely wines as well as gift cards from Starbucks and fragrant soaps. But my favorite gift of all was from a good colleague who knows I seek a perfect East coast pizza pie--something I curiously have not found in my time here on the right coast. My friend gave me a gift card for Pepe's pizza, a Connecticut institution. Pepe's is noted for their original New Haven branch which opened their doors in 1925. I am a particular connoisseur of the elusive white clam pizza which apparently is a specialty at Pepe's. I am in breathless anticipation of this dining experience; it's really only a question of when.

I've been to Pepe's, I live in nearby Branford..well, right now I'm residing in NC, however I have been in the New Haven area for more than 25 years. Pepe's is good, but not what it used to be...Sally's, just down from Pepe's, is better. Personally, I try to stay on the NE side of the "Q" bridge. If you like sushi, there is a phenomenal place called Miso in New Haven. OK, enough said....I can't seem to keep my mouth shut today.
um, CW, would you like my address to send those awful Godiva chocolates to? haha You don't like chocolates? Can't even imagine that!
I've got people in your neck of the woods. They love: Sal's Pizza in Mamaroneck - yeah you'll have to drive a little bit. Let me know what you think. I loved it when I had some in Sept.
