We almost missed the flight today based on a long and disorderly security line at JFK. We had a tight connection in Puerto Rico. Our luggage didn't arrive in St. Thomas and the people here are so freaking laid back that it took nearly 45 minutes to file a claim for four missing bags. We couldn't find a rental car because none of them seemed to contain gasoline. When we finally did secure a car (a rickety and very small Jeep) I became convinced we may roll it while navigating the high precipices and hair pins turns that are the roads here. Oh, and by the way, they drive on the left hand side of the road--who knew? We couldn't find an open restaurant or store--they apparently close on Sunday to properly honor the Sabbath. It took us two hours to find the hotel because the roads had no sufficient signage or lighting. And well, it's raining and humid.
A most auspicious start.
