Round Three

I'm in the gentle suburb of Princeton, NJ for the duration of this week for the third round of my business leader group meetings. For the first time in our gatherings, our parent company has seen fit to base this next stage of our meeting module just 60 miles from my house and not in London. It certainly makes for considerably easier traveling.

There's always an anticipated awkwardness when this group has been away from one another for a few months. Yet when I entered the meeting room this morning there were smiles all around and copious hugs, much dual cheek European kisses and the expected smart ass comment. It's nice to see them all again.

By the end of this first long day, our eyes were bloodshot and we were physically spent. Yet we all ended up huddled in a cuddly group in the bar, swapping budget war stories and updating our cohorts on our families and well being. Over a dinner of turf and cluck (that would be chicken and beef), the good natured ribbing began and took off in earnest over last round in the lounge. When we finished the night singing the theme song from "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" I knew we'd solidified our easy bond once again.

Four more days to go. If my liver survives and my voice holds out, I may just make it to module four.

Shameless hussy. And here I thought you were my one joy, my cuddly toy.
