Requim For My Mets

It came down to a final game
The fat lady finally sang
A heartbreak of an ending
The season's death knell firmly rang

The boys in blue and orange
And occasionally in black
Rallied hard just yesterday
And today, they simply shrank

They started in April so valiantly
And held their lead all the season
And then suddenly they folded and choked
Without warning, without reason

Wright played like a warrior
Maine pitched like a prince
Pedro was simply useless
Glavin just made me wince

I've supported you boys always
Even when Letterman said you suck
Your losses made Aunt Bert cry
Is it skill? Or just dumb luck?

I've watched your games in pouring rain
Lobbied for tickets, a pathetic mooch
And what do your fans get in return?
You boys go and screw the pooch

In the end, a compendium of loss
A tragedy I was expecting to fear
Yes, let's trot out the old saying
Maybe 2008 will be the Mets' year

I don't know why but I still believe
So this season you've earned a free pass
But if you don't bring it next year
*Opens* a can of industrial whoop ass

Awww, I am so sorry, C&W! The thing I like about the Mets is that they aren't the Yankees. As a Red Sox fan, I am well aware of your pain. Not this year, but most other years!

Hey, my word verification is:

wlnsox

Which seems like an omen to me. That "L" looks a lot like an "I" to me. Win Sox! Whoo-hoo!

Well, after the Mets and the Giants, I'll throw down for the BoSox. I'll take that omen, my New England friend!! It's a good one!
