This reminds me of the kid who got suspended for offering it as a dedication to his girlfriend in the school newspaper. He convinced the faculty it was a song about two people lost at sea. Yeah.

Actually it was late 70s so Eric Carmen was (in a dorky way) ahead of his time.
The 80's were just the 70's re-heated, in many ways.
