Well, I finally got my freaking snow. In spades. Unfortunately, the blanket of downy drifts that are piling up on the streets are being coated by a second wave of ice. These are stinging pellets of ice that have been raining down hard in a steady stream since noon. Why not add in the element of gale force winds? People, we got a party. I'd be reveling in it like a child save the fact that I need to leave for London for a business trip. Thanks to my Blackberry and the efficient folks at American Airlines, I have learned that many flights have been cancelled and things are severely backlogged into tomorrow. Oh. Fuck. I can already see what's going to happen.
My first business commitment in London is Sunday afternoon. I am going to the airport at 6 am tomorrow. I have--technically--28 hours to get there to start working. It'll probably be fine, but I am not without some anxiety. What seems like a wide window in the real world can often translate to tardiness when one sticky element upsets the course of events. I'd be more anxious but seriously, what can you do? Stressing over things that you can't control is pointless (I always love the insurance caveat that refers to "Acts of God"--same difference here, I'd say).
So off go I. I am hauling enough technological accoutrements to aid in my effort to blog from the foreign soils of Britain. I hope. Failing this, I'll be back on March 24th.
God willing.
