During these meetings, we enjoy group nights out together to get more familiar. We start to spend all our time together, we start to get to know one another and before you know it (like tonight, for example) it's midnight and we're in the hotel with arms linked singing some disco standard badly out of tune. These are the good times. We're tired and normal people and maybe we all just want to step away from our jobs, go out, get a little fucked up and be silly. This was the first step tonight and we have two more nights. It gets dangerous..and fun now.
The previous group (the class of 2006) arrived today and were waiting for us in the bar for the ritual hazing before they passed the torch. It was lighthearted fun and to be honest, made up of people I like and admire. I came upon Kerry, a woman I admire very much for her management style. As we chatted over a glass of wine, she gave me perhaps one of the greatest compliments which immodestly I must share here. She said, "You have the greatest hair and voice." Huh? OK, obviously two attributes which I would not necessarily prize highly. Curious but, well, I had been drinking.
Voice? I was concerned. I think my voice is a hodge podge of New York colloquialisms, flatland California and my Mom's English pronunciations. "You're kidding," I said. No, she said, " It's simply pleasurable to listen to." Oh! Who knew? But pleasurable? Hmm. I've never thought so.
This is an exceptional group of people. We're having fun...as if that wasn't obvious. But, well, I have been drinking.

Well I can't hear your voice or see your hair (damn computer), but I love your writing style. Hope to chat later over at GC's place. Have a good one.
Don't be fooled by the modesty. She has a lovely and well-maintained mane and a delightful voice.
Glad you are having a good time Chickiebaby. Don't get too drunk!
Kare: You and I have will have to meet up one of these days. I enjoy you as well. And my Hollaback Girl--honey--you're always kind, but you are currently on meds post-surgery and well, that may impair your perception. McVittie: I'm already too drunk. Hugs to you all.
