MaryCatherineFullofGrace has a mind like a steel trap. Her memory for occasion and detail shames mine. This morning she reminded me that my memory was erroneous. The event that I described as our first dress up occasion was in fact not the first. It was our third or fourth outing, so you'd think we'd have perfected stylizing by that point (apparently not). Here is MaryCatherineFullofGrace's much more detailed recollection:

Like you said, the image is seared into my mind. I think my dress was pink and white checks which I wore with white clogs with blue stitching. My mom did all of these ridiculous pin curls framing my face. You had on a pink dress, which for some reason I think was Connie's. It had little flowers embroidered around the neck. You were still wearing your glasses then. One of us is pigeon toed and both of us were unaware at the time that we should have sucked our stomachs in. We had the shawls that my Nana had made. We were standing at the end of the hallway, on the ghastly green yellow and
gold carpet, up against the bathroom door. It was the 7th or 8th grade Valentine's dance. And yes, I still have the picture.
