Those Lowdown Tuesday Blues*
(Sung to the a standard blues rift)
The subway smelled like mildew
And skanky sweaty feet
The Japanese deli's shut down
Ain't got nothing here to eat
It's just another Tuesday
And I'm already feeling beat.
They say PMS adds two pounds
And my face is breaking out
Really need a waxing
Though the pain will make me shout
Another lousy Tuesday
And my head is filled with doubt.
The sensei called me out now
For my pathetic push up skills
My apartment needs a cleaning
And I'm late to pay my bills
Rotten, nasty Tuesday
Why plague me with all these ills?
I've done nothing for Christmas
Haven't even bought the cards
Forget the tree and lighting
Gifts will come long afterwards
Merry, merry Tuesday
Please give Santa my regards.
Our issues are underbudget
Ad revenue seems all but doomed
When's the year end closing?
On Dec 26th, around noon
There goes my time off, Tuesday
You bring on my very ruin.
I'm sick of hearing my friends
Talk about sex and all their fun
Maybe they should remember
Some of us are getting none.
More abstinence on Tuesday
Not for lack of estrogen.
An editor was complaining
A salesmen, she threw a fit
I could use a smoke now
But years ago, I quit
Need a vice now, Tuesday
This day has gone to shit.
*With a nod to John Lee Hooker's "Mean Mean Woman Blues." Honey, today, I got your woman beat.
