I'm at the office waiting on a few more things in order to wrap this year up, so I don't necessarily feel guilty for posting to my blog from work. This is my time, after all. Because it's pretty dead in the office, I'm downloading some music that I'm obsessed with this week. Check them all out, if you get a chance, during this holiday season:
Ray Charles, Genius Loves Company
This is almost universally excellent. Particular standouts: "You Don't Know Me" with Diana Krall, "Here We Go Again" with Norah Jones, "Sinner's Prayer" with B.B. King and a live version of "Crazy Love" with Van Morrison. I have listened to this last song maybe ten times today.
Taylor Hicks (debut album)
You all already know I'm a fan of this fellow's musical style and harp playing, but personal preferences aside, this is a very solid debut record. There are lots of soul and R&B selections (including a Marvin Gaye cover) and lots of tight playing, horns, the whole shebang. My favorites: "The Right Place," "The Maze," "The Deal," and "Gonna Move."
John Legend, Once Again
This man just oozes sexy soul. Lord Have Mercy. I love his piano playing and the vocal work on this album. Check out: "Slow Dance," "Again," and Each Day Gets Better."
Johnny Cash, Live at Folsom Prison
I can't get enough of this reissue right now. I particularly love the Man in Black's version of "Jackson" and "Folsom Prison Blues."
What are you listening to today?

Robert Plant, The Kinks and Lyle Lovett. Not all at once.
Right on, right on!
You never know there could be a mash-up of those three somewhere on the internets. I'll go search.
